National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day is November 15 – SAVE on all Activated Charcoal Odor Absorbers
On the lighter side…..Yes, there really is such a day. Perhaps the best way to get motivated to do something is to declare a national holiday of sorts. Well, now there is no excuse – it’s time to clean out the refrigerator and finally throw out the unidentified food objects “UFO’s” in the back of the refrigerator or hidden in one of the produce bins. After all, it’s National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day on Nov 15th…for real! So, clean out your refrigerator and eliminate that dreadful refrigerator and freezer odor that you put up with every time you open the fridge.
How This National Holiday Got Started?
It’s difficult to say exactly how this day got started, but some references suggest that it started back around 1995, with a special Whirlpool promotion. Initially, Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day seems to have started as the 3rd Wednesday in November, however as general awareness and momentum gained around this idea, November 15th seems to have stuck. Even Emiril (the famous Chef) wrote several years ago, ”I just learned that November 15 is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day”. So, indeed November 15th has become the official date – perfect timing for right before the holidays. It makes sense that everyone should start the holidays with a clean and fresh smelling refrigerator. Whatever the reason, I’m guessing that your refrigerator could use a good cleaning. If you haven’t kept up with your fridge, go ahead and put on that Hazmat suit and shelf by shelf, sticky and smelly drawers, go for it.
Inspired?
We would love to hear from you. Share your fridge clean-out and odor elimination stories and photos and upload it to “comments” on this posting. What do we see as the worst smelling refrigerators? Well, dorm rooms and break rooms are often the worst, so we expect again, to see some of those. Some past photos are pretty crazy. Here’s a fun clip from NBC affiliate KAMR with a segment called “Does It Work” showing a particularly bad smelling refrigerator and how they solved the problem fast and easy with FRIDGE IT activated charcoal odor absorbers.
It’s really a good time to tackle this chore. You’ll need the extra room in your fridge anyway for the holidays and the last thing you want to worry about is the odor from the
refrigerator or freezer, including bad tasting ice. While you’re at it, make sure you finish the job by placing a couple of FRIDGE IT odor absorbers in the fridge to maintain a fresh and clean smelling refrigerator. It’s much better than baking soda. And, for another food saving tip -don’t forget to check the temperature in your refrigerator.
